Airport Heights Elementary Hallway
The artwork I made for Airport Heights Elementary was commissioned through the Anchorage 1% for Art program. I painted a 100' long hallway with undulations of blue sky punctuated with enormous, fantastical flowers. Around, over and under the hallway's unique architectural features, I mounted 20 hand-carved wooden animals. These foxes, ravens and hares are inspired by clever, smart and inventive characters from a cultural mix of fairy tales and fables. My goal was to bring the outdoors indoors and also create an exciting and active learning environment.
